Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that we use to encourage reading, strengthen comprehension skills and practice reading strategies.  After reading a book, students are able to take an online comprehensive multiple-choice exam on the specific book that they read.  Depending on the grade level, students use AR in different ways. 

1st Grade - Uses time on AR to introduce the program, and practice reading skills.  

2nd Grade - Uses AR within the classroom,  students are rewarded for their progress in different ways designed by the teacher.  2nd grade students are again rewarded for their progress by participating in the Out of this World AR Competiton.  Both incentives are designed to reward the student on any progress they make during the school year.
